Homemade Pizza Dough
There is something so satisfying about kneading and shaping dough whether for bread or a simple, basic pizza dough.
This recipe for Homemade Pizza Dough is quick, easy and foolproof! It takes about 10 minutes to prepare, then it simply rests in a warm spot to rise and in about an hour you have pizza dough!
This recipe yields enough dough for two 23-cm (9-inch) thin-crust pizzas or two 20-cm (8-inch) thicker crust pizzas.
Use the pizza dough right away, or keep for later. The dough will keep refrigerated for 1-2 days, or frozen for 2-3 months in an airtight container.

Ingredients
For the Dough
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cups lukewarm water
- 2 cups all purpose flour plus more for hands and surface
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- ½ tsp kosher salt
Instructions
- Whisk together the sugar, yeast, and water in a large bowl. Let rest about 10 minutes or until foamy.Add the olive oil and salt and stir to combine. Next add the flour and mix until the dough just comes together. Transfer to a lightly floured work surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5-8 minutes. Oil a large bowl, place the dough inside, cover and let rise in a warm, draft free place until doubled in size, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- Divide the dough in 1/2. Use the dough to make your favorite pizza right away, or refrigerate. The dough will keep, refrigerated for 1-2 days or 2-3 months in the freezer, stored in an air-tight container.
